A House for the Smith Family

$5 a person from 15,000 people equals $75,000.
Thank you for looking at my gofundme page. My name is Rebekah, and the people you see in this picture are why I am here.

Joshua: During his teaching internship, my brother in-law came down with a strange illness. One doctor later determined that two viruses entered his brain. As a result, he was eventually diagnosed with Parkinson’s Syndrome, a seizure disorder, and a neurologic muscular disorder. Unable to pursue a teaching career, Joshua has pursued a career as an author through Amazon self-publishing. He is about to publish his third book in a fantasy series. What some call an “inability” has become a priceless opportunity for Joshua. Although his condition still interferes with daily tasks, he continually strives to help and reach out to others around him.

Sarah: For the past several years, my oldest sister Sarah has been working towards owning and operating a home-based business. This is especially important for her as Joshua needs someone close by in case something happens. She recently got her certificate in baking through Escoffier School of Culinary Art’s online classes. The focus of Sarah’s efforts is in creating Gluten Free and other allergy friendly recipes of classic baked goods; from rolls and cookies to artisan breads and desserts. In addition to this, Sarah is also creating a store front on eBay specializing in children’s clothing, blankets, and limited craft supplies. My sister continues to push toward her goals despite what life has thrown at her. Through it all, Sarah still thinks of how her actions impact the lives of others.

Family: During all of this, Sarah and Joshua have also been raising two adorable daughters. Esther, 5 years old, was born shortly before Joshua’s illnesses began. Victoria, 7 months old, was an unexpected miracle. I moved in with Joshua and Sarah to be an extra set of hands, as well as to share housing and utility costs. I work as a teacher at a private school in Richardson and am working with Sarah in the businesses on the side.

A relative owns the house we currently live in. He recently lost his job and needs to sell the house. Since rent is so high right now, buying a home might be the best long-term solution to ensure the home businesses have the funds and the time needed to take root. We are asking your help to raise money for a decent down payment on a house. Our hope is to put together at least $75,000 towards the house, making the monthly payments low enough that we will have money to put towards business expenses. Whether you have resources you can offer, you share this story, or do both, each is giving. Thank you for your time and your consideration.
