A hope for Laura

Mi nombre es Rebeca, hija única de María Laurinda y Joao. 

Hoy he creado este gofundme con el apoyo de grandes amigas, por una buena causa: mi madre; una mujer que desde pequeña me ha demostrado lo maravillosa, fuerte y luchadora que es. Ella es mi todo, mi ejemplo a seguir, mi fortaleza y aún estando en la distancia es la que me da ánimos de continuar adelante en un país diferente al que nací y crecí.

Hace cuatro años que estoy fuera de mi país (Venezuela), del cual me fui buscando una mejor calidad de vida, pero siempre con la ilusión y esperanza de volver a tener a mis padres a mi lado. Este sueño se hizo realidad hace seis meses cuando mis padres lograron finalmente venir a España.

Ahora nos enfrentamos a una difícil situación. Durante los últimos 4 meses mi madre se ha encontrado muy mal de salud y acudió a diferentes médicos, ninguno de los cuales había dado con un diagnóstico claro, hasta que comenzó a presentar dificultad para poder hablar y escribir. Todo esto fue un indicativo de que algo más estaba ocurriendo en ella y no iba bien. Mi padre la llevó a urgencias en un hospital cercano, desesperado y pidiendo que la examinarán... desde entonces el mundo se nos ha venido abajo, ha sido diagnosticada con una lesión pulmonar avanzada, que ha conllevado a otras lesiones cerebrales, y posiblemente lesiones en el páncreas.

Somos una pequeña familia de tres y hoy me toca a mi ser el pilar, dar fuerza y esperanza a mi padre y mi madre para poder salir de esta difícil prueba que el destino nos ha puesto en el camino.

Mi madre me necesita ahora más que nunca, por eso he tenido que dejar mi trabajo para cuidar de ella. En general, nuestra situación económica no es la ideal, al verse obligados a salir de Venezuela, mis padres dejaron sus trabajos y aquí en España no les ha ido muy bien en ese sentido. No contamos con un seguro médico que pueda cubrir los gastos que se nos van presentando y, sobre todo, los que vienen... será muy difícil.

Actualmente, siguen haciéndole más pruebas con el fin de tener un diagnóstico más específico y proceder con los tratamientos que requiera. Es por esto que acudo a ustedes, para pedir su colaboración, cada granito de arena cuenta!

Tú aporte será de una gran ayuda para la recuperación de mi madre y estaré eternamente agradecida con cada uno que ustedes.

Necesito tener a mi mamá muchos años más junto a mi y poder recuperar el tiempo en que la distancia nos separaba. Aún es muy joven y con una vida llena de cosas bonitas por vivir.

My name is Rebeca, the only daughter of María Laurinda and Joao.

Today I join gofundme with the support of great friends for a good cause, my mom, the woman whom, since I was little, has shown me how wonderful, strong and fierce she is. She is my everything, my role model, my strength, and even while being apart, she was the one that gave me the courage to go on in a country different from the one I was born and raised.

Four years ago I left my country, Venezuela, looking for a better life but always with the hope of having my parents close to me again. This dream came true six months ago when they were finally able to come to Spain.

Now we are facing a difficult situation. During the last 4 months my mother has been very ill and seen several different doctors, none of whom had given a clear diagnosis until she began to develop difficulties to speak and write. This was a sign that something else was happening in her, something wasn’t going well. My father took her to a nearby hospital in desperation and asking for her to be examined… since then our world has collapsed. She was diagnosed with advanced lung lesion, which has led to other brain lesions and possibly in the pancreas.

We are a small family of three and today it is my turn to be the pillar, to give strength and hope to my father and mother in order to overcome this incredibly difficult test that destiny has laid in our way.

My mom needs me now more than ever, which is why I had to quit my job to take care of her. In general, our economic situation is not the ideal. Being forced to leave Venezuela, my parents left their jobs and here in Spain it has not been easy to start over. We don’t have medical insurance to cover the expenses that this situation has entailed and, above all, those that will come ahead… it will be very difficult.

Currently, doctors continue running tests to my mom in order to have a specific diagnosis and to proceed with the treatments necessary. This is why I come to you, to ask for your help, no matter how small, because every little bit counts!

Your contribution will be of great help for the recovery of my Mom and I will be forever grateful to each one of you.

I need to have my Mom with me for many more years, so we can get back the time that distance stole from us. She is still very young and with a life full of beautiful things to live for.
