A HOME for Yury's longing family at last

Imagine spending your ENTIRE life being of service to others and the community, and yet, never getting that “breath of fresh air” that signifies that YOU as well get to thrive and must not live like a homeless person.
Let me introduce the Smirnov family: Yury, his wife Irina, and their daughter Polina.
Yury and I developed and distributed a beloved magazine for years, the first on the international level, and then a second, local (Central California) edition, and for years, we were working tirelessly and courageously, accepting little advertising income, because we did NOT want to be directed and affected by advertisers. But our Yury never ONCE in almost 15 years mentioned how he, and now the family, were living in very depressing conditions.
At least we had another source of income at all times over here, retired and all. But Yury didn’t have much of that, valiantly as he tried and bright, well-educated and highly intelligent as he is. And he was suffering quietly all along, new wife, child and all.
Now, though, we are all getting older, and he is STILL not able to settle into anything at all with his family that they can call their own. See what heart-wrenching email I got yesterday, with me knowing that apartment-living in Russia is NOT what we think it is in California. (((@@))):

“It will be 8 years soon since I met Irina and Polina and we created a family. We live in love and harmony. But we are missing an important thing in our life: a cozy home and a beautiful garden."
"Rental housing as a temporary shelter may be a good option when you are young and full of energy. With me approaching the big 70 fast, after changing at least 15 different rental housings for 20 years (5 times - in the past 8 years as a family) you feel a bit tired, to say the least.
"A longing to have our own house and garden is gradually turning into a vain dream, as years fly by, we are getting older, our daughter is growing up... and nothing changes, no matter how hard we work.”
"Now, remembering our Russian proverb: "Better a hundred friends than a hundred rubles", we decided to appeal to our friends and the people of kindred spirit all over the World with a call for help. After a careful consideration we set a goal to collect a sum of $35000 US through crowdfunding. According to our calculations it's a minimum amount to enable us to buy a little piece of rural land in Krasnodar region (about $15000 US) and to build the foundation, the walls and the roof of a small (6.0 x 7.0 m) 2-storey house (about $10000 US). Finishing the house and creation of an organic garden will require another $10000 US."
