A Home for Petey & Sherman

50673148_159827255596347_r.jpegThis is Petey.  He was rescued from a Tennessee kill pen by Herd of Hope Horse Rescue (H.o.H.) in June.  His sweet eyes and loyal connection to Sherman, the handsome miniature donkey, is what motivated Aileen Stevens, H.o.H. founder and president, to rescue both.  Little is known about Petey and Sherman’s history.  We aren’t even sure if they arrived at the kill pen together, but they are so bonded now, we could not in good conscience separate them.  Both boys were emaciated and in very bad shape at the time of rescue but — amazingly—their sweet temperaments remained intact.  Petey and Sherman have completed their time in quarantine, hitting health milestones and readjusting to regular human contact.  We at H.o.H. are thrilled to share that we have found these amazing boys a forever home AND a purpose....but they need your help!

Our plan is to relocate Petey and Sherman to a lovely small farm in PA, where they will remain a part of the Herd as therapeutic supports for children and older adults in our community. To finalize this plan, we are seeking donations that will be used to build fencing and update shelter space so that Petey and Sherman can have the beautiful space that they deserve. Please, consider making a donation. We are seeking $3,500.00 to achieve our goal.

Your generosity will reap enormous rewards:  the creation of a forever home for Petey and Sherman AND being a part of the amazing work of Herd of Hope, where “humans heal horses and horses heal humans.”
