Home for Pueblo's Homeless Youth

Daring to Care!  Committed to Action!

That’s the motto for a new Colorado  nonprofit – Launch Pad Pueblo - whose mission is to provide a residential personal and professional development program for homeless 18-25 year olds in our community.   Imagine your own halting movement through the early adult years being done with no backup or home to return to for respite.

More than housing, Launch Pad Pueblo is a personal and professional development program that gets IN FRONT of the problem and strengthens our whole community.

NOTE:  Re-zoning stopped the purchase of this house at this time.  We are working with the Zoning Board and neighbors to get  a special zoning permit for this use only for this house that was once a convent.  Thus, the use of funds gathered now will be used as estimated below.

                           Care Enough to Act Now!

TARGET  - $200,000, that’s $102,000  operating expenses for 12 residents, $50,000 capital expense to furnish ( and renovate if needed) the housing and including  two used vehicles.  The balance would be used for fundraising efforts, and if needed, for a down payment and mortgage payments for the first 2 years.     Any contribution is appreciated as we want this to become a broad community initiative.
(Your contribution is deductible.  Launch Pad Pueblo is sponsored by the Southern Colorado Community Ftd, a 501(c)3 organization.  We are applying for our own 501(c)3 designation. )

PROGRAM

In addition to housing, food and assistance with going to school or learning a trade, residents will be given personal emotional support and life enrichment activities they missed out on growing up – museums, concerts, camping out in the mountains.  There will be classes in life skills such as money management, healthy nutrition, stress management, relationship skills, and work ethic.

Launch Pad Pueblo will become a life long home-base for these young people starting with their efforts to get into sustainable, satisfying lives and continuing as a “home to come home to” for special celebrations or ongoing support.

Launch Pad Pueblo is a hand up, not a hand out.
The program gives full support with full accountability.

Residents will apply and be interviewed to assess their readiness to make the commitment to changing the course of their lives and their ability to live in community.  In the initial Orientation Intensive, residents will be assisted to create a personal Life Development Plan (LDP)  that will guide their progress to full independence in the community.  Moving forward the residents will reach a hand down for the next participants as part of the outreach into the high schools and middle schools to help younger students form an early choice over joining a gang.
