A holiday for Emily and her family

I moved to Annscroft almost 6 years ago, knowing nobody.  Emily and her Mum, Nina, were among the first people I met.  They live just 4 doors away and have become  unconditional and much-treasured  friends. Emily is 29 years old - slightly younger than my daughters.  She and Jase have three very beautiful and energetic girls - Isla (9),  Edie (4) and Anni (2).  Nina and I often enjoy sharing our 'Mum' and 'Nanny' experiences together over a cuppa or glass of wine. Emily is truly an incredibly unselfish and very altruistic girl.  She will bundle her girls in the car and dash off to rescue anyone (or anything!) in need.  This is who she is - a friend to everyone.   In July, Emily found a lump in her breast.  At 29 years old you don't expect anything nasty but best to get it checked... Within a week, Emily had been diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer.  In true Emily-style, she gathered herself up and prepared for her treatment with nothing but complete positivity - despite the fact she was facing chemotherapy and a mastectomy. In order for doctors to prepare an appropriate treatment plan, Emily had further scans that week but, within days (and before treatment even started), Emily was called in to the hospital to be given the devastating news that the cancer had already spread to her liver (metastatic) and is incurable.  Emily is now undergoing extremely invasive treatment in order to try and control the spread of the cancer.   Throughout this, Emily, Jase and the whole family remain very positive and we, their friends, are supporting as much as we can to ensure life goes on in as normal a way as possible. We would like to facilitate Emily and her family having a holiday - a break away from treatment and hospital appointments and a chance to have fun as a family. We are not sure what will be possible in coming months because of the current environment, but we've got our positive hats on and are determined to do what we can to ensure the funds are there for whatever might be a possibility.
