A Helping Hand-Up For Dennis Howard

Hello friends,
I am starting the fund raiser because in this giving season of gratitude for our many blessings, we have a friend who needs a hand up.
Dennis has been diagnosed with cancer in his throat and it is thought to have originated in his tonsil area. He has a very large mass protruding from the right side of his throat which is his lymph node. He has had a couple of procedures to determine the exact origin and now that it has been determined, it's time to get aggressive and serious in his treatment plan.
Before 7 weeks (5 days a week) of radiation can begin, he will need to have ALL of his teeth surgically removed as well as a portion of his jaw bone shaved. The cost for this is $6840 and his part will be $2,700.00. He HAS to have that co-pay before it can be done and he HAS to have this done before they can start treatment.
Once the dental work is complete, he will have to go to Tyler (an hour away from Winnsboro) 5 days a week for 7 full weeks of radiation. During this transition, he will also have a feeding tube inserted as he won’t be able to eat during treatment and will have to constantly force himself to swallow as not to lose that muscle memory. The transportation issue is only adding to his stress which is something he really doesn’t need right now. There is an opportunity for him to stay in Tyler for about $300 a week which would make the treatments so much easier for him but that is going to be a big financial burden as well.
Dennis is an extremely creative and talented artist. Anyone who knows him at all, knows his heart is sincere and he would gladly give anyone a hand up within any ability he has. My husband and I bought our home in east Texas 2 ½ years ago and met Dennis shortly after. He is a good friend to us and many others in our great little town.
I am asking for any possible donation that you are able to make to help ease the constant worry and stress of a very scary road in front of him. I want him to be able to focus on his recovery with less focus on his finances.
Please keep him in your heart and prayers to ease his fear and help him to feel the love and good vibes coming his way.
