A helping hand for my parents

Without a doubt, this year has been extremely difficult for all of us, especially for the elderly in our community. Three weeks ago we had the awful experience of having both of our parents fall sick with COVID at the same time. There are no words to describe the dread and fear we all felt as we helplessly saw how their health deteriorated day by day. My siblings and I had to work together to bring them food, medication, and even rushed them to the emergency room when things got out of hand. My mother had to be taken to the hospital a few times, and even though she developed pneumonia she was able to be sent home with a strict medical treatment. On the other hand, my father who also developed pneumonia, was rushed to the hospital by ambulance and was admitted last Tuesday. Today we are thankful that after all this nightmare he has been discharged and is stable along with my mother at home.   

We understand that their road to recovery is slow, and we feel very blessed to have them with us. Nevertheless, this difficult experience has taken a turn about their financial situation. Which is why my siblings and I feel the necessity to run this fundraiser to help them cover their monthly expenses and medical bills. The funds will be a blessing to them as my dad is unable to work, and my mom is on medical leave.  Any donation of any amount is greatly needed and appreciated, and on behalf of my entire family we thank you for your support. 

 

Sin duda este año ha sido extremadamente difícil para todos, especialmente para las personas de avanzada edad. Hace tres semanas tuvimos la horrible experiencia de tener a ambos padres enfermos con COVID al mismo tiempo. No hay palabras para explicar la angustia, el temor, y la impotencia que sentimos al ver como su salud se iba deteriorando día tras día. Mis hermanos y yo hemos tenido que trabajar juntos para llevarles comida, medicamentos, e incluso llevarlos a la sala de emergencia cuando la situación estuvo fuera de nuestro alcance. Mi madre tuvo que ser llevada al hospital unas cuantas veces, y aunque su cuerpo desarrolló neumonía fue enviada a su casa con tratamiento médico estricto. Por otra parte, mi padre quien también desarrolló neumonía, fue trasladado de emergencia en ambulancia al hospital y fue admitido el pasado martes. Hoy en día estamos agradecidos porque después de toda esta pesadilla, él ha sido dado de alta y está estable junto a mi madre en su casa.  

Entendemos que el camino hacia la recuperación es lento, y nos sentimos muy bendecidos de tenerlos con nosotros. Sin embargo, ésta difícil experiencia le ha dado un giro a su situación financiera. Es por eso, que mis hermanos y yo sentimos la necesidad de ejecutar esta recaudación de fondos para ayudarles a cubrir sus gastos mensuales y facturas médicas. Los fondos serán una bendición para ellos, ya que mi papá está incapacitado para trabajar y mi mamá está en permiso de ausencia por condiciones médicas. Cualquier donación de cualquier cantidad será enormemente agradecida, y departe de toda mi familia les agradecemos por su apoyo.
