Join us to make A HEART FOR TOGO ORPHANAGE happen! Bread of Life World Outreach Center is fund-raising to build a multi-purpose orphanage and teaching facility for orphans and displaced youth in the capital of Togo West Africa.
The Problem: A Severe Housing Crisis: Togo is a small West African nation situated between Ghana and Benin and is home to 6.1 million people. Despite recent economic progress and an increase in primary
school enrollment among girls, health trends are static or worsening: Maternal, infant, and childhood mortality remain unacceptably high; Life expectancy has declined from 57.3 years in 1990 to 53 in 2017; The country’s HIV prevalence rate, at 6.1 percent among adults, is the third highest in West Africa; among 15- to 24- year old’s, the HIV prevalence rate is 2 percent for men and nearly 6 percent for women. There is a desperate need for medical care for their citizens. Because of this very high rate of HIV the prevalence in this region of Africa we do see an abundance of children that have been left without mothers and fathers to love them, to raise them and nurture them to be successful adults. It is our hearts desire to have an orphanage that will convey the love and the compassion that we read amidst the pages of our Holy Bible.... our vision is to bring resources to this orphanage that would facilitate every orphan an education that would prepare them for higher education. Our goal is for each orphan to have good medical care, to keep each one healthy and free of disease.... and to see each orphan well dressed, well-groomed and provided a “world class education” to prepare them to become productive adults.
What we are doing about it. The solution to displaced orphans is housing. A HEART FOR TOGO ORPHANAGE has been sheltering and housing, educating and providing medical attention to orphans in Togo for many years. Now A HEART FOR TOGO ORPHANAGE is moving forward to build a multi-purpose housing and educational facility on 10 acres of land in the city of Togo. We have the engineering plans, the City’s approval, and lots of volunteers to help with the building. But we need your help with construction costs, permits, appliances and furnishings.
We are crowdfunding $400,000 to make A HEART FOR TOGO happen. That amount will allow us to put in the vital infrastructure and community services we need. The property is raw land, so we’ll need to put in sewer, water and electricity hook-ups. We’ll also purchase a couple of prefabricated modular units to serve as community service center, where residents will make and share their meals, do their laundry, share a game-room, learn technology in a state-of-the-art technology center and utilize total and mental health services.
Will you join us to make A HEART FOR TOGO happen? We started planning A HEART FOR TOGO several years ago and we are now very close to making it a reality, but we need your support. We are hoping to break ground on the multiplex facility early 2020. We have all of the pieces in place, the multiplex will not only provide a roof over the orphans heads, but also social services along with safety, security, personal responsibility, friendship, and a sense of belonging and community to children who have been without those things for far too long.
Who is the TOGO ORPHANAGE ACTION TEAM? The TOGO ACTION TEAM is a non-denominational 501c3 non-profit organization of concerned citizens formed in Wyandanch, North Babylon New York, with a goal of reducing the orphanage rate in Togo West Africa through our ministry. Our funding comes from charitable and fundraising events. A HEART FOR TOGO already houses, food and medical attention for 100 children in local villages.
