<div>Hi Every one, I really appreciate you taking the time to read this sad and heartbreaking story. My husband and I are trying to raise Money for Steve and Emma. Steve has worked hard his whole life and is a very proud man, he prides himself on looking after his partner and son, particularly financially. Not long ago they were on Holiday and were enjoying the fruits of their labour. Then on the 6th July Steve collapsed at home and had a seizure, completely out of the blue, it was scary for the family and Steve spent a while in hospital, His partner whom I work with came into work with this awful news but had every hope that it was something that medication could fix.

<div>However after scans, ECT’s, bloods and tests they were given the news that Steve had a brain tumour and it would require an invasive brain operation. Steve had the option to do this awake as the tumour was so close to the Brocas’s area (the area involved in speech) that he would need to talk the whole way through so the surgeon knew if he got too close to affect speech. This all happened in under 4 weeks. From seizure to operation, However the family remained positive and hoped the surgeon could get all of the tumour and Steve could be on the road to recovery.

<div>They held out hope for the diagnosis that came a week later, this is when they received the tragic, unbelievable devastating news that Steve had Glioblastoma grade 4 and was given 12-18 months to live, this is if he chooses to have radiotherapy and chemotherapy. This is the stage the family are currently at and it has been heartbreaking to hear how Steve has struggled to communicate since his operation, he isn’t able to do the things he usually would, like watching the football at the pub, going for walks with Emma and simple tasks like shopping and house work are now a struggle for him. We have all felt helpless. But when Emma told me that they get no financial help, mainly due to Steve being self employed and having savings but no life insurance, I was desperate to do something practical for them.

<div>a-lot of their savings have gone towards solicitors fees, meetings with funeral directors and day to day livings costs as Steve can no longer work.
</div>
<div>My husband and I have spoken many times about how sad we are for them and how we wish there was something we could do to help and my husband has decided to run a marathon for Steve, as difficult as it is to be this frank; we don’t know how long Steve will be with us so this run will either be something Steve can watch to know we support him or in memory of him.
</div>
<div>The money will go to Emma and Steve to do something they’ve always wanted to do or it will be for Emma to help her financially.
</div>
<div>Ben will run 26.2 miles on the 24.05.26 in Edinburgh. We are hoping Steve will be well enough to watch him finish and we would appreciate any donations to help a devastated family.
</div>
<div>We will all be at the run with T-Shirts and Pom poms in support of Steve and the struggles he is facing with bravery and integrity. Please donate anything you can. In my husbands words “I will dig deep, my pain is temporary and thinking of Steve whilst running will spur me on to get the best time I can for him, the pain from a run is nothing in comparison to what he is having to endure”
