A Hand Up for Hailey

This is my lifelong friend, Jeff Mohring and his daughter Hailey.
Hailey was born premature and has severe cerebral palsy. Hailey lost her mom (Kelly) to cancer when Hailey was just two years old. While caring for his wife until her passing, Jeff has been a single parent raising and caring for Hailey in their home all on his own.
Hailey is confined to a wheel chair and requires care 24/7 with assistance with eating, toileting, personal grooming etc. As I am sure you can imagine this has been a long road for them both. The emotional drain from her plethora of surgeries and post-op care along with the daily physical and financial drain this has had has not been easy on Jeff.
When Hailey was a child there was an annual charity golf tournament in her honor which provided funds to enable Hailey to have the necessities of life and continue to be cared for at home by caregivers as there isn't funding available for this. Once Hailey turned 18 years old (2015) the charity golf tournament came to an end....and so did the funds that Hailey desperately needs to be able to continue to be cared for at home.
Hailey is turning 20 years old in October (2017) and Jeff has applied for any and all adult funding available (Direct Funding Ontario, Development Service Organization, etc) but unfortunately there is huge backlog and to date nothing has come through and he is being told it could take a couple more years!!!!!!
Jeff has been paying out of pocket $120/day for Hailey's basic care just so he can go to work as she can never be left alone. The hope is that someday Hailey will be able to live independent of Jeff (in an assisted living residence of course) but in order for this to occur she needs the opportunity.
For 3 consecutive weeks this August, Hailey has the opportunity to attend a program in Toronto that will provide her with some much needed exposure to independent living. The program is called The Independence Program and it is quite costly. It is an overnight program for Hailey and she has never been away from Jeff this long. Not only will this give her the independence away from Jeff, it will also provide some much needed respite for Jeff.
I have watched Jeff struggle to continue to provide for his daughter and her care and do what he has to do so that she can continue to be all she can be...he is determined to make this happen for her. Jeff is far too proud to ask for help so I am reaching out on his behalf....
If you are able to help out by contributing towards Hailey's care and summer camp I know it would be greatly appreciated by Jeff and Hailey. Even if you personally are unable to donate please share in hopes that it reaches as many people as possible.....Every little bit helps....
