At our small, magical house on the Erie Canal, we teach visitors of all ages about frogs and their essential ecological role in wetlands and rain forests. Kids and adults enjoy whimsical toys, books, and special events, and explore local wetlands in search of regional species.

But as important, we collaborate with regional government and organizations to protect ponds and other wetlands from encroaching development projects, and to educate policy makers about issues of extinction, natural insect control instead of toxic pesticide use, and other aspects of environmental science.

Our public forums and classroom programs are in high demand in regional schools and our Sunday afternoon projects in our own garden – one is building Toad Abodes to attract garden amphibians – are always full. Learning to care for the tiniest tadpole and the gargantuan toads inspires a sense of the interconnection holding the planet together in perilous times.
