A Force to be Reckoned with

With just a little over three months to go before municipal elections we have a rare chance to set the political agenda. Between now and then, in collaboration with the Plataforma Sóller Vall Verda, we'll be running an intense campaign here to make sure our voices are heard on key environmental issues. But though they chiefly rely on the hard work and the skills of volunteers, campaigns also cost money. There are flyers and posters to print. Reports on the main issues to publish and get into the hands of would-be mayors. Dramatic photos to print large and shock the public. Publicity stunts. If costs permit, small handheld air monitors to purchase and distribute to schools in the valley so that children will report daily on air quality. The list is only limited by our imaginations and purse strings. Every single cent will go towards the environmental campaigns supported by this group A Force to be Reckoned with. It's a way for the non-native community living in or visiting Sóller to help out and show their concern and support for our endeavours. In the unlikely event that monies remain after May 26, we'll vote here on where to send them (local animal welfare etc). If everyone who regularly posts a sad or angry emoticon were to give just 5 or 10 euros we'd be well on our way to covering the costs of not just our drive on clean air but also on water, land, energy and waste.
