A fighter for Prabhupada is terminally ill
Parajnana prabhu from Denmark, also known as Preben Olsen, developed a malignant brain tumor and got it removed on the 1st of March. It's not possible to remove everything though and according to conventional medical science you can only relieve the symptoms, but not cure it, and thus there is no hope for a cure according to the conventional viewpoint. He got very severe post-operational complications, and he has basically lost his ability to speak and perform certain simple bodily functions. His brain has been drastically affected by both the tumor and the operation, and he needs extensive care. He is presently at a hospice near his family.
I've been visiting him some times after the operation, giving him a maha-garland from Krishna Balaram in Vrindavan, Radha kund water and a picture of Radha Shyamasundara, and been reading aloud from Krishna lila. He was very moved and started crying when he got it and we have been speaking about the likeliness of him leaving the body within six month to a year. Even though he can't create full sentences, and has a hard time communicating, it been clear that he wants to leave this world in Vrindavan if possible. I have spoken with his wife about this too, and she is agreeing in case there is no hope for any alternative treatment. Several devotees have been visiting him and given him music with Prabhupada and devotional pictures.
Parajnana became a devotee in 1986 only 19 years old. He is presently 51. He served full time in the temple and moved to Korsnäs for some years working for the Danish BBT together with Mathuresh prabhu. He also did a good amount of book distribution until he suddenly became very ill, and had to stop to take care of his weak health. He has been living by himself for many years trying to get well, without much progress.
Despite battling his weak health he has been fighting, mostly via social media, to preserve/restore the ISKCON Prabhupada created. The fight has included the importance of maintaining Prabhupada’s books as they are, and to try to keep the movement from going on a mission drift. His strong ksatriya nature has never been really curtailed by his illness, and whenever he’s had some excess energy he’s been fighting to preserve Prabhupada’s teachings as they are.
He got married around 8-10 years ago, and him and his wife Yvonne have two children aged six and four.
Unfortunately the situation has become worse, since the tumor has grown agressively and is back even bigger than it was at the time of the operation. A doctor said that the expected time to live is such a case is only between 2 weeks and 2 month. An old devotee friend has got involved who has a lot of insight and experience with alternative treatment, and he has engaged a very senior Prabhupada devotee healer in working on Parajnana via remote healing with positive results. There is actually precedence for people with similar cancer in advanced stages getting cured by specific alternative medication, and we are going to start administering that medication today, on the auspicious Aksaya Tritiya, as well as continue the healing process. Krishna willing, conventional medical science may prove wrong. This has been seen before, and we have hope that this alternative treatment may cure him, or at least greatly improve his condition and give him many years still to develop his Krishna bhakti and be a father and husband for his family, as well as continuing his fight for Prabhupada’s legacy.
The healer is doing it for a living and we need to pay her, and the medication isn’t free either, and thus we like to ask you for your kind contribution to meet the cost of the treatment. Your contribution will also help his family financially since they are very strained on this front, Yvonne having no income while her and the kids are living of Parajnana’s limited pension.
