<div>My name is Shihab, and I live in northern Gaza City. I am a husband and a father of four wonderful children, who are the center of my world. Before this war, we lived a simple but peaceful life. I owned a small shop where I sold daily goods to my neighbors. It wasn’t much, but it provided us with enough to live with dignity. My children went to school, played outside, and we had dreams — ordinary dreams that every parent has: to see our children grow up in peace, to build a better future for them.

<div>But when the war began, everything changed overnight. The sound of bombs became part of our daily life. At first, we tried to stay strong and hopeful, believing that it would end soon. We stayed together inside our home, praying and trying to keep the children calm. But the explosions grew louder, closer, and more frequent. One day, without warning, a massive airstrike hit near our neighborhood. In a few moments, our house and my small shop were destroyed, reduced to rubble and ashes.

<div>I will never forget that day — the cloud of dust, the cries of my children, the feeling of helplessness as I realized that everything we had built was gone. The home that once sheltered laughter, warmth, and love had turned into a memory.

<div>Since then, life has become a daily struggle for survival. We have no proper shelter — sometimes we stay with relatives, sometimes in crowded temporary tents, and sometimes in damaged buildings with no doors or windows. Nights are the hardest. The cold seeps through the broken walls, and my children shiver as they try to sleep. They have no warm clothes, no blankets, and often go to bed hungry.

<div>Food is scarce. Every day, I walk long distances, searching for bread, water, or any kind of aid. The lines for humanitarian assistance stretch endlessly, and sometimes we wait for hours only to find that supplies have run out. The prices of the few items available in the markets are far beyond what any of us can afford. My children have gone days without a proper meal, and it breaks my heart to see their small faces filled with hunger and exhaustion.

<div>The situation in Gaza is beyond words. Entire neighborhoods have been wiped off the map. Families are living in the streets or in overcrowded shelters. Clean water is almost impossible to find, and even hospitals — the last hope for the sick and injured — are struggling without electricity, medicine, or fuel. Children who should be in school are now living in fear, surrounded by destruction.

<div>I see the pain in every parent’s eyes here. We all share the same silent question: How can we protect our children when we have nothing left?

<div>Despite everything, I still hold on to a small piece of hope — the hope that someone, somewhere, will hear our voices and care enough to help. I am not asking for much. I only want to be able to feed my children, buy them warm clothes, and give them a safe place to sleep. I want to rebuild what little I can, to give them back a sense of normal life, even if it’s just for a moment.
