A Father's Love: You're My Boy Blue

This fundraiser has been created for the support of Lawrence Berdan Jr (LJ). LJ is currently in the battle of his life but he has his most powerful ally, his advocate, the love of his life by his side; his Daddy! LJ and Lawrence have a sacred and inseparable bond which is a truly beautiful thing. Sigmund Freud once said, “I cannot think of any need in childhood as strong as the need for a father’s protection.”

On Friday, September 15th, LJ was brought to the hospital having headaches.  Shortly after discovering that he had ultra high blood pressure, he was transported by air to the childrens hospital in Greenville, NC where he ultimately had 2 strokes.  The following Monday morning, as LJ was being monitored for the effects of the stroke, he started bleeding on his brain.  He was rushed to emergency surgery where they performed a craniectomy.  The doctors were not optimistic that he would survive the surgery.  By the grace of God, LJ survived.  He is continually being monitored where he is in critical but stable condition.   LJ is going to need a specialized cardiovascular team and technology that is only avaiable at Duke, Boston, and Philadelphia.  The hospitals are working to build this team and prepare to receive LJ.  Until then, we wait and pray that God continues to protect LJ and that the hospitals can make this transfer soon.  

LJ's medical needs are great.  In order for Lawrence to continue to seek out the care LJ deserves, the financial burden will be great.  Lawrence is 150 percent committed not only as LJ's father but the exceptional medical professional that he is.  Lawrence has the education, experience, and the tenacity to provide the love and care that LJ needs.
