<div>Christian Mayorga was a perfectly healthy 44-year-old father, husband, friend, and so much more. On February 25, 2025, he was rushed to the hospital with flu-like symptoms which quickly escalated into bacterial pneumonia. He was sent to the Intensive Care Unit and placed on a ventilator for 18 days, requiring dialysis and multiple medications to keep him alive.

<div>During his time in the ICU, more critical diseases stemmed from the bacterial pneumonia such as strep A toxic shock syndrome and pseudomonas. These diseases aggressively invaded his blood stream and caused multiple organ failure. The doctors gave Chris a 1% chance of living.

<div>Chris fought with everything he had to stay alive—not just for himself, but for his 9-year-old son Tyler, 5-year-old daughter Madison, his wife Nicole, his parents Teresa and Angel, and younger brother Billy. He refused to let go, determined to be there for every holiday, graduation, and one day, to walk his daughter down the aisle.

<div>Due to the extremely poor blood flow to his limbs from the disease, the doctors said they had no choice but to amputate both of Chris’s arms above his elbows and both legs above his knees to stop the infection from spreading.

<div>Nicole held his face and explained to Chris what needed to be done in order to save his life—amputation of all of his limbs. Chris nodded his head yes when asked if he wanted to live even if it meant losing his arms and legs.
</div>

<div>Chris survived. This decision shows exactly the type of man and father Chris is. His strength and resilience in the face of impossible odds are nothing short of a miracle, but he did not come out unscathed.
</div>

<div>Chris has always been the kind of man who did everything with his hands—whether it was coaching his kids' sports teams, fixing things around the house, or working hard to provide for his family. He took pride in being active, independent, and present in the lives of those he loved.
</div>

<div>With the loss of all four limbs, Chris and his family now face an unimaginable reality. Their home will need extensive renovations to make it wheelchair accessible, including ramps, widened doorways, and a fully adaptive bathroom. They will need a wheelchair-accessible vehicle to help Chris regain mobility and independence. Most critically, he will need advanced prosthetics to give him the ability to regain some of the independence he once had.

<div>While Chris focuses on healing and learning to navigate his new life, these funds will help ease that burden, ensuring that Nicole, Tyler, and Madison have the support they need during this difficult time. Every contribution will go directly toward helping Chris rebuild his life, regain his independence, and continue being the incredible husband, father, son, brother, and friend that he has always been.
