Everyone who knows Roger Staffaroni knows that his world revolves around his children. He works two jobs just to ensure that he can provide everything that they need to be healthy and safe. He is a selfless single father of three that takes on multiple roles; provider, counselor, chef, storyteller, confidante, housekeeper, and taxi.
Many in Roger’s situation are well aware that one small problem can be the catalyst to a full-blown crisis. In fact, when we asked Roger what we could do to help him, his response was,”I need a reliable minivan.” A minivan? He didn’t say vacation or anything for himself. His focus was on safe and reliable transportation for his family. His response was inspiring and a reminder that he is the kind of father and parent that many aspire to be.
The purpose of this endeavor is to help Roger before he comes face to face with crisis. Roger’s current vehicle (and child taxi) is old, which places significant stress on this wonderful father. It comes down to need vs. cost. The Staffaroni family needs a safe and reliable car, but the cost of the same is outside of the budget, even with two jobs. Conversely, the cost to maintain an aging car can be just as expensive and has the added bonus of being unreliable. A true catch 22. We have researched available options for a safe, practical, reliable, and economical vehicle for the Stafaroni family. What we have found is that to purchase a vehicle that hits all of these goals, we will need to raise $25,000.
A dependable vehicle can seem like a small thing and a lot of us take for granted the fact that a reliable vehicle is out of reach for some, no matter how hard they work. Alone, Roger cannot accomplish this. However, with his friends and family pooling their resources we can make this a reality. Let’s do some good work today and help a family that helps itself. Let’s pool our resources and get a safe and reliable car for a hardworking father and his kids. Let’s preemptively help a family before this does become a crisis. Let’s help a friend.
