Helping a family get the fresh start they deserve

Hi, my name is Robert, and I am raising funds for a long-time friend. I have known Lee for 30 years, and she has always been selfless and puts everyone else first. She has also overcome so many obstacles. Some of these obstacles include domestic violence, the murder of her children's father and homelessness.

Lee has four children; Rose is 15, David is 14 and has autism, Faye is 12 and has PTSD, ADHD, and ODD, and Grace is 11.

Lee's children's father was murdered in October 2019. Lee quit her job to care for her children, who were not doing well mentally. Lee lost her home and ended up living with friends who took advantage of the situation. When Lee was about to rebuild, the pandemic hit and put a damper on Lee's plans. Lee continued to be taken advantage of until she decided being in a shelter would probably be a better situation for herself and her children.

While the shelter was not the easiest choice, the ages of her children made it hard to work because they were too old for childcare yet too young to be left alone at the shelter Lee and her children stayed in the shelter for six months. The shelter system did offer Lee lifetime assistance which she turned down in case another family would have to do without. All she asked for was help with the first month and deposit so that she could get back on her feet.

Lee secured housing, but because she forwent the housing vouchers, the house did not need to be inspected, and the property owners took advantage of this. The place that Lee rented was promised to be complete within a couple of days of moving in. She would spend the next ten months fighting to have simple and significant repairs performed. These repairs included bathrooms that were never complete, black mold, and electrical and structural issues. At one point, Lee even had raw sewage in her basement. These repairs are still not done to date. Lee was finally given a voice when a reporter was doing an article on one of Lee's children.

Lee and her children have relocated, but with the help of Lee's newfound reporter friend Lee is working to raise awareness and reform on Landlord Tenant laws in Ohio. This does not come without ramifications. Because Lee is moving forward with the lawsuits against the former property owners of her old home, she fears that she will be unable to find anyone else to rent to her once these lawsuits become public.

So I am asking for your help helping Lee and her children purchase and furnish their own house.
