A dependable car for James

Donation protected

I'm Bill Simpson. I've set up this gofundme account to help out my brother James Simpson.

Many of you know Jim. Many more of you remember him from his years in New York and New Jersey.

Jim has been an overcomer for his entire life. He has survived physical and emotional abuse, depression, anxiety, and various medical issues.

I've always considered giving Jim the nickname of "The Timex Kid."    He "takes a licking but keeps on ticking."

Somehow, Jim always does so with grace, and in his usual good, quirky, eccentric, and humorous nature.   No matter how many times he gets knocked down... he's always had the ability to get back up and carry on with a tongue in cheek wisecrack, and a smile.

Recently, the transmission on Jim's vehicle went bad. The price of replacing the transmission is far more than what the vehicle is even worth.

Without a vehicle Jim has no way to get to his place of employment.

Jim called me last night so we could discuss this latest problem.   Ironically, I just paid out some very costly car repairs for my own vehicle this past weekend, so I'm not in a position to help him as much as I normally would under these particular circumstances.

I am quite worried about this situation.  A job loss for anyone can be devastating.   For reasons many of you already know... a job loss would be an even greater hardship on Jim.

So I need to get this vehicle problem rectified, as rapidly as possible.

Jim along with his cousin and his friends in Alabama are currently looking for an inexpensive vehicle for him. No particular make model or color. The only criteria for the vehicle is to be in sound mechanical shape, enough to ensure a solid degree of dependability.

I'm advising Jim to buy a vehicle from a private owner.  Why give a used car dealer a profit?  Eliminate the middle man and buy it outright.

If anyone in the Calhoun County, Alabama area knows cars, please conact Jim as he will need someone with knowledge to look over any prospective vehicle to ensure that it is in sound mechanical condition.

I'm not even sure what monetary goal I should set on here to obtain this vehicle. However I would assume that $2,500 dollars should get the job done.

Of course I will regularly update everyone on Facebook on the progress of this endeavor. I'm sure that Jim will also post a couple of photos of his new vehicle on Facebook after he obtains it, along with a hearty thank you.

Jim was a bit hesitant about opening a gofundme account for this.  However I'm not quite as shy about these things as many of you already know.    I told Jim I was doing this... end of story.

I simply need to do whatever I can to help him solve this latest problem. I will be donating to this as well. In fact, I am making the very first donation.

I am opening the account, but I am setting this up so that Jim can directly withdraw the funds himself when the time comes to do so.

I would ask that if you are unable to donate, please circulate this link and information to anyone else you might know who knows either Jim or myself or who might otherwise wish to help us with a donation.

Sharing this gofundme link and each update on your  on your Facebook page will help us to make short work of this goal.

I am genuinely most grateful to each and every one of you for any assistance you may offer.

Warmest Regards
Bill Simpson
