A Daughter's Wish for her Father

Donation protected
Hey everyone my name is Krissy from Phoenix, Arizona. As many of my family and friends already know, my dad has become terminally ill and his time with us has become limited. My mom and dad live all the way in New York City which puts me all the way across the country from them.

This is my dad's story. My dad was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer about 2 years ago. He had a colostomy soon after. During this time he was actively getting chemotherapy to attack the tumors that have traveled up his body to his liver and lungs. Unfortunately, the chemotherapy did not work and instead of responding to treatment, his cancer began to spread even further. Fast forward to the new year, my dad was suddenly unable to walk. Since then he has been admitted to the hospital. We were told that the cancer has spread so far and so deep that he will no longer be a candidate for chemotherapy and that the cancer is now irreversible. The next step is for my father to be transferred to hospice. My dad is wonderful and selfless man who truly has always been there for me and my family. He has been married to my mom for 40 years. He has always had a tough exterior but inside he is just a big teddy bear.

So here is my wish. I'm asking for help towards plane tickets so that I can travel to be with my father as much as possible. I'm also asking for help towards expenses needed for my father in preparation of what's to come to ease some of the financial burden off of my mother and I. Anything will help and anything raised will go directly to my father's benefit. His time is limited and I'm just asking for a little help to make the time we have with him a little less stressful.

UPDATE: On January 10th, 2017 my dad lost his battle with cancer. He spent 4 days in hospice and quickly regressed. I never got my wish of seeing him one last time. I couldn't say goodbye. He passed away 3 days before my scheduled visit. Our hearts are broken and my dad will truly be missed. The only relief is knowing that he is no longer suffering in pain. Rest in peace daddy, we love you.

Here is how your donation will be distributed. Due to the fact that my parents don't speak English , I handle a lof of their affairs already. In these tough times I will be withdrawing some of the funds to cover my travel expenses and the remainder of the funds will be used for funeral services for my father.

Thank you all so much for taking the time to read a small part of our story and please feel free to share this Go Fund Me page.

Sincerely,

Krissy Russo
