A CuddleCot in Matix's Honor

Donation protected

In honor of Matix's first birthday, October 22nd, we are hoping to raise enough money to donate a CuddleCot to  Alta View Hospital, where Matix was delivered.

Many of you may not know what a CuddleCot is, here we hope to educate you and to explain why this is near and dear to our hearts.

Please read our story at https://niki84093.wixsite.com/ourmatixjames
if you haven't already heard it.

A few hours after our beautiful still baby Matix was delivered our nurse suggested to us we should allow them to take Matix into another room, away from us, so he could be cooled. She explained that a body starts to decompose the minute it passes away and that it would be in Matix's best interest if he could be cooled. She assured us that we could have him back at any moment we wanted.  Letting her take our baby boy away from our room was such a hard things to allow. We wanted him with us, where he belonged. Had Alta View been able to provide us with a CuddleCot that never would have happened and we could have spent every moment possible with our boy. We knew after all, we had such few moments with him ahead of us. We want to give the gift of Time to any parent that unfortunately has to go threw that heartbreaking situation in the future. We hope it will help us heal, make our baby boy proud, and comfort future grieving parents.

A CuddleCot is a bassinet with a cooling devise inside of it. This wonderful bassinet gives greiving parents something we have so little of, Time. Here is an exert from the company who we would like to purchase the cot from, "Dealing with the death of a baby is clearly an incredibly difficult event for parents and bereaved parents should be given the option of spending Time with their baby. This is usually in the hospital maternity/labor ward or hospice. Providing families Time through the use of the CuddleCot is internationally encouraged by midwives, bereavement practitioners, still birth/neonatal charities, and academics. Time allows the family to form an important bond with their baby; whether changing a nappy, dressing the baby, taking photographs or simply just staying close and this unquestionably helps families in dealing with their loss. The problem is that in a warm room the baby’s condition can deteriorate quickly, therefore cooling the baby is absolutely essential. Transferring to and from the morgue is now widely regarded as an outdated practice as it is traumatic for parents to repeatedly go through the separation process whereas the CuddleCot allows the family to spend every moment with their baby, precious moments where every minute counts."

Please honor Matix with us by donating or sharing this page and our blog to educate and hopefully give other parents going through the unimaginable loss of a baby more Time.

Any donation over the cost of the cot will be donated to the Share Parents of Utah organization. They are angels amoung us!!!
