A chance for healing and life for Abi

This campaign is to help with the costs of a long term residential therapeutic treatment program for Abi, the beloved daughter of my friends Eric & Jana. This program is to help her overcome some enormous struggles impacting her mental health and safety. Abi suffers from debilitating social anxieties and depression, compounded by trauma, further made difficult by facing life through the lens of autism. This young woman has been dealt a really difficult hand to play in life and it has taken a most extreme toll on her well-being.

Her parents were faced with the reality of not being able to keep their daughter safe at home any longer. Recognizing the magnitude of their daughter’s struggles, they sought an intervention with professionals trained to address the complexities she is facing so she finds hope for her future.

This kind of intervention is extremely expensive and is largely up to the family to cover.  Insurance may assist with a small portion of the cost involved, subject to insurance claim review with an uncertain outcome.

It is agonizing to think that their daughter will likely be away for nearly 24 months let alone be faced with an enormous financial bill to boot. This campaign is to see if we can help lighten their load.

$30,000 is needed by January 1, 2020 to cover their next quarterly program payment.  Then, every three months an additional $30,000 will be due through October 2021, when Abi's treatment is expected to conclude.  Contributions of any amount are welcome.  In addition, sharing this story and GoFundMe link  with others is appreciated and needed to give Abi a chance for healing and life.

Personal Note from the parents:

It is a humbling thing to need to turn to the goodwill of others in order to do something so vital to our daughter’s health and wellbeing. Abi had gotten to a very dark and self destructive place. As a parent, it is a gut-wrenching feeling to know that you are not enough to help your child. In order to preserve her life, we knew that we had to find a deeply therapeutic response, but in truth have no real idea how to maintain the funding necessary to keep her receiving the care she most needs. Facing a program cost of $10,000 per month with an expected duration of 2 years we are facing a back breaking financial endeavor that we can only engage as a leap of faith. Though we anticipate depleting every reserve we possess, we will need assistance to maintain this effort on her behalf.

Whether you can help financially or not, for those of you who are “praying people” we welcome your prayers for wellbeing and peace for our daughter… she is carrying a heavy burden and coupled with her autism, it makes a long road ahead for recovery.

Would you consider “sharing” this story with your network of friends, coworkers and acquaintances via social media? We cannot know who else might be moved to lend a hand, but perhaps in getting this story out they will find out and be able to help us do what we cannot do all by ourselves.

And finally, if you are able to help financially, please know that you have our heartfelt gratitude!

Even if you are unable to help, thank you for reading our story and gifting us with your attention for a time. It may not be our story that calls to you, but just know that you are a blessing to whomever you choose to express your care and concern.

Peace and our heartfelt thanks,

Eric & Jana
