Hello friends, family, and amazing people! My name is Mekaela Ceballos. I am 17 and currently live in Downey, California.
Earlier this year I applied for an amazing music program called “A Cappella Academy''. This academy is a 10 day summer camp that helps young musicians develop their skills as vocalist, beatboxers, arrangers, music directors, and songwriters. Only the top 15% of applicants are invited to attend A Cappella Academy. Fortunately, I was among those lucky musicians. Since I was young, I've always dreamed of singing with different groups of people to spread unity and joy through our voice and music. A Cappella Academy has given me the opportunity of doing so and I'm beyond excited. I've been singing in the Downey High School Epic Jazz Choir for two years and I've been playing the flute in band for six years. Through this my passion for music has excelled and I plan to incorporate music in my future. However, the pandemic has placed a grand barrier between me and music making. A Cappella Academy would break down this barrier and allow me to flourish in music collaboration and artistic expression. But I need your help! Coming from a low-income family, my single mother and I have always appreciated the kind souls that have helped us make it through financial stress. I am hopeful that a handful of loving friends and family can help me pay for my A Cappella Academy tuition. Any and all contributions would truly mean the world to me.
I hope you can see that music is a huge part of my life. I am grateful for your time and consideration because without you I wouldn’t be able to chase my dreams.
