A big fight for a little Tank

Donation protected
This is the most difficult thing any of us has ever written.

Imagine knowing someone so genuine and earnest that you couldn’t picture a bad thing happening to them.

And then imagine knowing the worst has happened, and feeling completely helpless in the face of that thing.

We’re trying to not be sappy about this, as the folks we’re writing about are some of the kindest, proudest, most hard-working people out there. They are so full of love and hope and endurance that you can imagine  they don’t want to rely too much on the sympathy of strangers. But when you have a beautiful 19 month old baby diagnosed with  leukemia, to whom are you supposed to turn?

Our dear friends Chrystal and her wonderful fiance Dave are in the second trimester of their third pregnancy. They have two beautiful boys, Dominic (4) and Justin (19 months), and given how gorgeous their first two boys turned out, I can’t say I’m surprised that they’re expecting a third.

A little while ago, Justin a.k.a. Tank, who is a hearty, energetic little tank, started limping. And a little while after that, he reverted to crawling. He was promptly taken in to be seen by a specialist, and after extensive testing the determination was made that he is suffering from leukemia and will require large amounts, possibly months even years of extremely grueling chemo therapy to overcome this senseless disease.... in order to facilitate treatment, little Justin just underwent a procedure to insert a port in his chest where they will feed through medicine.

The prognosis is thankfully positive, but the treatment won’t be easy. We're not going to outline the gruesome things that happen to people when they undergo cancer treatment here, we're sure you can put that together. Along with it will come numerous hospital visits – to the tune of probably every second day and long-term stays. In excess of $20/day worth of parking fees will adds up. There will have to be at least one parent temporarily out of work, often both of them, to handle the coordination of it all, along with numerous other unexpected expenses. Not to mention, the new baby on the way... though they are courageous and ready for war...they will need their army behind them.

If there is anything you can do to contribute to this cause to help lessen the blow of this devastating news, it would be greatly appreciated. Anyone wondering how they can help...here's something we all can do. Raising these funds will help them manage all of this and will allow them to put their energy, time and resources where it needs to be...on ONLY their boys!!

Be it sharing this post or donating, even if you can only afford $5.00. PRAY. Send an encouraging word. Do whatever makes your soul feel good. Just direct everything good you have within you to this family, because it’s needed, and, more than you could ever know, appreciated.

Thank you and much love,
