<div>“Only Dreams Come True” is a narrative proof-of-concept film largely based on Filipino soap operas (teleseryes) and love teams. The film follows Cherry, a high school junior, obsessed with the love team AlexElla (Alexander Mariano and Gabriella Florez). In true soap opera fashion, Alexander’s younger brother, Daniel, starts attending her school. Cherry navigates her new crush with her best friend, Kyla, who often reality checks Cherry. The film explores parasocial relationships and reflects the experience of many mixed race individuals who connect with their culture through media.
