A better life for Matthew

Meet Matthew from Fiji, born with hydrocephalus and was operated at less than 3 months old to have a VP shunt inserted. Because of the pressure in his brain early on, he has to live with cerebral palsy. This has resulted in him being unable to crawl, stand or walk, can only sit with support of pillows on both sides and is completely dependant when it comes to eating, bathing, changing and moving about. He is now 7 years old.
Despite his physical limitations, he has grown up to be a very intelligent, sweet, funny and a loving boy who draws people to him wherever he goes. He has an infectious smile which can be a lesson to those who have almost everything yet complains about life. He has an older sister who cares for him, yet ofcourse like everyone who loves him, hopes to see his physical condition improve. His physical condition is highly likely to improve with regular special physiotherapy.
He has also developed scoliosis and recently diagnosed with absence epilepsy where he suffers frequent episodes of absence siezures that can last up to a week. He also has a leak in one of his heart valves.
Apart from special physiotherapy, he is in need of a philadelphia back brace to help support his spine and correct his scoliosis, an ankle foot orthotic to straighten his foot, a walking frame, a special needs stroller to easily bring him around as he loves to go places, as well as regular visits to the doctor and specialists. In Fiji, he only has access to physiotherapy which costs alot per session while the other equipment have to be sourced from overseas at a very high cost. The family also wishes to take him overseas for a visit to specialists as there is hardly any specialists for his case in Fiji. He is also under medications which again costs money.
A little, brilliant boy full of life and potential, limited because he does not have the proper equipment and access to the right form of therapy. Lets help Matthew and his family by giving what we can so that this little boy can have a better life, a life that will allow him to feel normal and allow his family and loved ones to watch him improve his physical condition. No one deserves to stay limited if theres a way life can be improved and we can all help.
