A Bench for Rachelle

Donation protected
On August 18th, 2017 Rachelle Mair's life came to an abrupt end. Rachelle was a great woman, who was dearly loved by her four children, and their spouses and partners, her two granddaughters, her many, many siblings, and all those who were lucky enough to know her.

Refusing to let her age define her, Rachelle was incredibly active and adventurous. Despite her poor knees and arthritis, she walked ten kilometers a day. One of her favorite walks was through the Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa. Just minutes from her home, Rachelle would often walk through the grounds of the cemetery as a scenic not-so-short cut, often convincing anyone she could to join her.

In tribute to her memory, her children would like to raise the necessary funds to memorialize Rachelle with a marble bench in Beechwood Cemetery, so that others who love that walk can find a place for a moment of repose.

Her three daughters, Roxanne, Rebecca, and Stephanie, will be in charge of the funds, and will ensure that they will find the optimal spot to place her bench. Any additional funds will be donated to the Canadian Children’s Museum in her memory.

As Rachelle encouraged us to remember, "think of all the beauty around you and be happy."
