A Battle for His Life

In one day my life was turned upside down and will never be the same. My husband, Mike, went for a physical and while he was there he showed his doctor his arm which he thought he had hurt at work. It was not an injury; it was Stage 4 cancer. In the last month we have learned that the cancer is in his lung, bones, brain, blood, and gastrointestinal tract. His arm fractured from the radiation and cannot be mended because of the cancer. He has a brace and pain medicine to cope. It was such a short time ago that we spent our time working hard for our future, lovingly maintaining our yard and home, and laughing with friends and family. I now spend my time caring for the love of my life, fighting with the insurance company, and trying to make ends meet with the sudden loss of half our income. We have done all that we can: we have health insurance, cancer insurance as well as filed an application for disability. I work as many hours as I can because my employer has been both understanding as well as generous. But with all of this, the sudden loss of one income as well as the overwhelming cost of care (even with insurance) leaves us in financial ruin. All I want to do is spend time with Mike who has been my rock, the love of my life, my best friend, and my soul mate. I am raising money to pay medical expenses and household expenses so I do not lose my home before I sell it. (We have accepted that we cannot keep it. Even if he makes a miraculous recovery we cannot afford it or maintain it on disability and his condition)
