A Basic Income Open Movie Documentary

Donation protected
Who will benefit? Everyone who believes we need a better solution for our current and near future socio-economic challenges. And those who are against Basic Income due to long held stereotypes and misunderstanding about what it's really all about and how much it would really cost.

Fund will be used for: making an entertaining and award contending documentary about the history of human struggles and basic income as a capital investment on, or dividends for, the people to excel themselves. This will include some fun infographic type animation explainer, some artistic rendition of moving stories of real-life struggles. Large amount of assets (videos, immersive soundscape, soundtracks, 3D models and animations, graphics, etc) is needed to create a feature length high production value documentary. Funds will also be used for professional quality production and post-production works. Any assets created with opens source programs like Blender and Synfig, or are originally created or sourced (whether it is created with open source program or not), will be released for free public use on  informational, educational, or other creative independent works.

When is the fund needed? By July 2019 as we want to accelerate and produce all the sounds, narrations, animations, graphics, accompanying footage and other assets, in order to complete this documentary as soon as possible and starts reaching audiences worldwide. We want to have everything including post-productions and mastering done by next year.

I am Ric Lim, a filmmaker and composer from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. I’ve started researching basic income around 2014 starting with the Mincome experiment of the 1970s when I first heard of two Manitoba economist works (Dr. Evelyn Forget and Dr. Wayne Simpson’s research papers). So far it had taken 4 years of research, interviews, and working to create a type of documentary that will have maximum impact on advancing understanding of basic income. I have used my own funds and a bit of donations from supporters until now but it has its limitations and I want to create a great production that will entertain and delight while at the same time inform and appeal to mass audiences.  Making this documentary has been my passion and I believe it is important to do it right and not just have interviews footage that could easily be overlooked by the public.
