A baby for the Miccichi's

Donation protected
My friends Kim and Shawn are trying to adopt a baby.  They have never asked for any help in this process and have invested a large amount of money in their dream.  However, they have had many set backs until recently when they had been set up for an adoption for months and the mother pulled out right before the baby was due.  In Florida in particular this happens more often than people know.  Expecting mothers can essentially partner with an adoption agency where adopting parents must basically pay the mothers a salary to cover their needs while pregnant.  As you may imagine, about 50% of the time mothers use this as income knowing they can make money while pregnant while having no intentions of actually giving their child up.  But this is basically the only option for parents wanting a new born baby.  Ruth and I are heartbroken for Kim and Shawn.  Ruth in particular being a social worker sees this too often and wishes there were more people like the Miccichi's to give children a chance they otherwise wouldn't have.  Both are educated caring people that can provide a great life for a child.  Please help them achieve this goal.  There story is below:

Our love story started out the best way possible! We were friends for many years, we fell in love, and got married. The only thing missing is our child. We are both educators and have dedicated our lives to kids. After trying to conceive for many years, we went to a fertility specialist and found out the only way we would conceive was through IVF. This procedure is very invasive and costly – and our doctor only gave us a 60% chance of it working. We wanted a family too badly to take that risk – both emotionally and financially.

So, we embraced the opportunity to take a different path to building our own family. We realized that God has a bigger plan for our lives and that includes adopting our child. We researched agencies and chose a local one that friends adopted their son through 8 years ago. We are in the process of adopting through a private domestic adoption agency. The birth mothers they work with are usually unable or not allowed to parent their own children. We believe by choosing this type of local adoption we will be preventing a child from entering the foster care system later in life.

In May 2017 we were finally matched with a birth mother. We communicated with her weekly and provided her with financial assistance during her pregnancy. We were all set to bring home a baby girl at the end of September. Then we got the dreaded call from our agency – she had found a family member at the last minute to take her baby instead. We were devastated. As we find strength we never knew we had and rely on our faith in God’s plan to get us through this very difficult time, we have also realized the importance of our family and friends’ support. We appreciate you taking time to read our story and if you are so inclined, please donate to help us recover from the expenses we lost from our failed match and continue to move forward.
