A 7 Year Old Shooting Victim's Desire to Walk

During the night of Thursday, September 5, 2019, 7-year-old Miasia Iana Perry was playing on her hoverboard in the comfort of her family living room. When shots rang through the country home due to a drive-by shooting, Miasia was left with a bullet lodged in her spine. She was transported from her Nashville, North Carolina home to Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. She is currently being treated for the trauma in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Miasia will need extensive care; she has a collapsed lung and is paralyzed.

We want to take the time to thank neighbors, community members, colleagues, friends, and family for the outpouring of support during this time of need. For those of you who would like to donate, please note that the monetary contributions will be used for Miasia's hospital and medical expenses, and her parents' travel to and from Nashville to Wake Medical Center (over 2 hours round trip). The daily travel will ensure Miasia's 10-year old sister attends school daily while staying with Miasia after school to assist in her recovery.
