Hello,
My name is Zeisa Vieira and I am a Junior at the College of the Holy Cross , majoring in Sociology, minoring in Education, with an Africana Studies concentration. Recently, I have been accepted to study abroad in Paris, France for the 2015 Maymester Program at Holy Cross. This opportunity is very exciting for me because I was unable to participate in the semester abroad programs at the college due to the course load of my major, minor and concentration. I am very interested and fascinated by different cultures, enviroment, and people, which is the main reason why I want to study abroad. I chose to specifically apply to the Paris program because of the required History course, Americans in Paris, that will be offered at the University of Paris. Along with the course, we are given a final project where we will be able to survey and study Americans’ engagement and life in the city of Paris. As a Sociology major, I am hoping to put into practice my skills of interviewing, conducting research, and analyzing data to learn about Americans' history and also their present in Paris. In addition to what I will be learning, I am hoping to connect with the Professors and people that I will meet in Paris, and also with the students who will be going on the trip as well.
College of the Holy Cross has rewarded me with financial aid in order for me to commit to the program. However, my need can not be met 100% and there is still a portion of the expenses that I will have to pay on my own. I intend in working hard for the next 3 months to cover the unpaid balance, but I am also asking for help so I can keep myself enrolled in the program. I trully believe that this program will offer me experiences that I will cherish and connect to my studies at Holy Cross. So, if you can please make a contributition to my trip.
