Zaydin's Rainbow

Simon Rosa, father to the most courageous eight year old Zaydin, is cancer's latest captive. He was diagnosed only a month ago with a form of cancer seen in 1% of males, Pure Testicular Choriocarcinoma. Despite the doctors efforts the cancer metastasized so quickly it filled his lungs, leaving him unable to breath on his own. Family and friends came to say their goodbyes as he was put under in the hopes he would stabilize. For a few hours, results were positive and he was able to receive chemo, but then his heart stopped.

Back at home, Zaydin wanted to do one of his favorite things, ride his bike. It was raining out but he didn't care. As he snapped on his helmet, he turned to Therese (Oma) and Kevin (Papa) and said, "I'm pretty sure all this rain is the Gods crying" and out he went. Minutes later, the call came that Simon had coded. As Therese and Kevin sat in disbelief and sadness, Zaydin flew in the house saying, "Oma and Papa, come and see the rainbow!" It was big and brilliant and in a second Therese knew it was Simon's spirit coming straight to Zaydin. "Take a picture of me, I'm lighting up the rainbow!" Zaydin said as he held a lighter up, lighting up the rainbow like he lit up Simon's life.

Simon never regained consciousness and on Sunday, September 24th, 2017, he passed away peacefully with his family and friends by his side.

Simon loved music, sunshine, and the blue angels. But most importantly, he loved his son Zaydin.  Simon always told people that Zaydin's mother, Shannon, was his best friend and he knew that he had picked the perfect mother for his son.  So if you'd like to do something in memory of Simon, please donate to Zaydin's Rainbow.
