Help Yuri Live & Beat LC!

If you know Yuri, you’ll know that behind her shy, quiet exterior is an incredible, dynamic human being overflowing with fiery intensity and soft tenderness, and unlimited potential for making things happen. In the last three years of living with Stage IV metastatic breast cancer, Yuri has been anything but a quiet victim of her illness. She has used her condition to fuel her projects with more passion and tenacity, and face life with more courage and determination. She has thrived under challenging conditions of mounting physical pain, multiple surgeries and countless rounds of treatments as she continued to work as a graphic designer collaborating with other creatives, and vigorously pursued her own passion project sharing some of her most deeply vulnerable moments through a series of writing called Notes To A Friend . This project resonated deeply with friends and far-flung strangers, and culminated into a collaborative art show in Los Angeles featuring designers and artists from all over the world, then a voice-activated digital ink projection installation in New York City. Throughout the last three years, she continued to travel and see the world, pursue all her interests and curiosities, and love even more fiercely, opening her heart to everyone she crossed paths with.

Last March, while aggressively fighting tumors in Yuri’s brain, doctors discovered her cancer had developed into leptomeningeal carcinomatosis  (LC) which is a rare condition that affects approximately 5% of cancer patients in which the disease spreads to the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Doctors gave a prognosis of 2-3 months left to live. Nearly six months later, Yuri is still living, learning, and loving.

While conventional Western medicine has offered her few options, we know that healing ultimately happens holistically and is borne from deep faith and willingness. Yuri discovered https://hope4cancer.com , an alternative and holistic treatment center offering a fully integrative cancer treatment program. Hope 4 Cancer’s program thrives in ways conventional cancer therapies don’t, by using non-toxic alternative methods and various powerful healing modalities.

2011 – Underwent a lumpectomy and mastectomy on right breast after many rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, and successfully entered remission

May 2015 – Four years later Yuri went to Urgent Care because of a severe cough and couldn’t breathe. An X-ray of the chest diagnosed her with pneumonia. But just in case, the doctor also ordered a chest CT. The chest CT showed that her previous cancer had returned as Stage IV metastatic breast cancer which had spread to her brain, lungs, and bones at the age of 30 Yuri decides to live as hard as she can, and to share the experience with as many people as possible. She began a passion project called Notes To A Friend. The response from readers all over the world was extraordinary as people connected through shared loss and suffering

December 2015 – a collaborative art show took place in Los Angeles featuring the work of designers and artists from all over the world, each piece inspired by the artist’s favorite Note

March 2018 – after aggressively fighting tumors in Yuri’s brain, her doctor discovered her cancer had spread to become leptomeningeal carcinomatosis (LC) and estimated she has about 2-3 months to live. This prognosis was disregarded and surpassed.
