You Can Help Alex

Alex Moore lives in Augusta, Georgia. In 2014, Alex was diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia, he was 5 years old. After searching for a donor for over 3 years, and at the age of 8 years old, Alex finally received a full bone marrow transplant at the Children’s Hospital of Atlanta in June 2017. Since receiving his transplant just over 100 days ago, Alex has battled several ups and downs. He has been dealing with graft versus host disease as well as several other infections as a result of his compromised immune system. Alex spent almost 100 days in Atlanta waiting for the transplant to begin to graft into his body. Since, returning home to Augusta, Alex has been to the emergency room multiple times. Recently, Alex’s parents found him completely unresponsive after having a seizure, and had to watch as he was airlifted from the Children’s Hospital in Augusta and flown to the Children’s Hospital in Atlanta.
His home currently does not have access to broadband internet. Comcast and other utility companies are too far away to be feasible to install. If Alex had internet at his house, a lot of the monitoring and diagnoses could be handled by doctors over the internet. Also, Alex gets all of his school work completed over internet. We have spent months testing multiple ways (Including wireless) to get internet to his house. In a joint effort by Western Carolina Telephone, Advanced Technology Group, and Columbia County fiber, we have come up with a plan to install internet services to Alex’s house. There is a large install cost that cannot be avoided. We are asking for the friends and family of Alex to please donate to take care of these install costs so that Alex’s doctors can more closely monitor him and so that he can attend school from his house.
