Yolande Johnson Memorial Fund

I spoke to one of my sisters friends last night. My worst fears for her were confirmed. My sister had been living in a domestic violence situation. I hate knowing for certain that my sister lived her last days and weeks in terror. My heart is breaking both for the loss of my beautiful and talented sister but also because life has beaten and battered my sister at every turn. She has missed out on so much of life, 38 is way too young to die. But she also leaves behind four beautiful children, all adopted away including my own sweet Kwame. They will never get to know the incredible woman she was. I want peace for my sister and got all my family to be able to get together and support each other and celebrate the good parts of her life. I wish I had enough money to finance all the final expenses but I do not. I hate to keep asking for money. We as a family are still asking for donations any donation can help. Please also share this post if you can.

Our sister Yolande Johnson passed away unexpectedly on September 13, 2014.  Leaving the family with a financial hardship. We are asking for donations of any size to help the family with her final expenses.

Our sister Yolande was a beautiful and caring young woman. When we were kids she would sit and tell us amazing stories. She could recall her dreams with so much vivid detail that it was more entertaining to just listen to her go on than to watch movies or tv. We lost our mother at such a young age, and then we were separated into different foster homes. Luckily, Derrick and I had Yolande there with us. She became our surrogate and advocate at an age where any other child would have just been able to be a kid. Due to the tragedy of losing our mother, and years of abuse in foster care, my sister became a magnet for pain and suffering. Just thinking of the hurdles she faced in life brings tears to my eyes. She lost her 3 daughters and son due to abusive relationships, but still made sure to be a good auntie and sister. So brave, so loving, yet life still attacked her from every angle. I wish I could write that her life was all sunny days, but in truth my sister suffered most of her days on this earth. I just pray that she is now in a peaceful place. I love you Yolande! I am so sorry for the sadness you endured! No one deserves the battles and scars that were inflicted on you! God rest your soul my dear sweet sister.
