After that I developed somewhat of an obsession with yoga. I took every free class I could, and took yoga as an elective. I still don't know exactly what it is that truly hooked me about yoga, but I will say it was the first time in my life I started to feel at home in my body. It was the beginning of what I would describe as the self discovery phase of my life, which is still on going.
Growing up I was constantly dealing with low self-esteem, mild depression, being bullied in school, and just not really knowing who I was, and who I was suppose to be. Yoga started giving me the tools to better manage all that chaotic energy and inner chatter that could have derailed me in not only finishing school but also in getting through some very tough years surrounding health and finances.
It is only by G-d's grace, and the assistance and guidance of friends that I have been able to continue practicing yoga on and off over the last couple of years. Now, I want to make it a part of my life. Not just the asanas, but also the teachings.
I have always had an inner desire to take yoga teacher training, but could never figure out how to afford to do so financially. Well, along came Kelly Morris, the founder and creator of Conquering Lion Yoga. In one of my darkest moments, and from a thousand miles away, she saw me. I still don't know why, or how she saw me, but she did, and offered me a scholarship to attend Conquering Lion Yoga teacher training.
However, now I need help covering my travel expenses. I have 15 trips from Tampa Florida to New York city, plus lodging, to make this happen. All monies raised will be used strictly for travel, lodging, and food. If you can't give financial support, then I will also accept spiritual support in the form of prayers, to give me the will power and perseverance to see this through from start to finish. This is without question going to be one of the most challenging adventures of my life.
I am not going to yoga teacher training to become famous, rich, or an Adonis; but rather to learn how to transform myself, my life, and my world. Ultimately, to be a happier, healthier, and dare I say holier version of myself!

P.S. I can finally touch my toes 10 years later, but am at least another 15 from doing a full split / Hanumanasana (Monkey Pose).
Update: I am more than halfway through the program, but still have 8 more weekends to go and already running out of money and favors from friends. My roommates have tired of missing out on sleep to get me to the airport which means I will now have to start parking my car at the airport and paying the daily rate or get a taxi on the longer weekends.
