For 3 years I have been caretaking my father in a remote mountain area with few people and next to no local economy. Even despite the struggles and hardship in the area I could not abandon the feeling I needed to do what I could to assist after his life threatening accident and subsequent discovery that he had kidney cancer. Now that his health and situation have stabilized I find that there is a path to my next step in life. This next step requires a property suitable to my permaculture education and to developing Yeoman Farms.
This campaign is an attempt to cover the down payment on what will become the location of Yeoman Farms. With this property I can begin to reach further than a simple individual can reach and create the place from which I will provide assets, education, community, and health as responses to a nationwide need for a deeper connection to the basics: Food, Water, and Shelter. Please join me as I do my part to create not only my dream, but my vehicle to assist the state of California, and the nation, in restoring and regenerating soils, watershed health, wildlife, and passion for a connection to food, seasons, husbandry of the land, as well as the Art and Craft that comes with this connection.
I spent everything I had and the monies raised from a mildly successful gofundme to help dad on repairing his situation and gaining him some stability that he can have on fixed income. That was 3 years ago. Now I am "marooned by circumstance" and facing a dilemma. How to get the project of my dreams going and create something that shows I did more than sit on a mountain with my time?
When I am successful Yeoman Farms will provide 4 seasonal education events, as well as 4 farm to fork catered events which donors and the public will be invited to attend. Donors will recieve free invitations and the public will receive access for a small fee, in order to pay costs of operation for Yeoman Farms. The sooner I can achieve my goal for down payment funding, the sooner I can enter into an owner financed contract and begin developing the property!
This is a lifelong dream, as well as a specifically envisioned dream, that has lasted through thick and thin over 11 years, and it has only grown more realistic with work experience, permaculture design certification, and numerous farm and garden positions being fulfilled on my way to this point. I am ready. I am wondering if the world is ready for the level of food, farm, and Artsy Craftsy fun I plan on delivering!
