We are raising funds to help start a not-for-profit that aims to promote healthy marriages and relationships in Central PA and beyond. This initial funding will allow us to cover the legal fees of filing as a not-for-profit as well as some early expenses of promotion, recruitment and logistical needs.
The mission of Your Marriage Matters is to provide resources and funds to help couples gain access to marriage and relational therapy. Promoting healthy marriages and relationships through writing, retreats, seminars, and workshops, while also having a voice in the faith community to speak theologically and therapeutically into issues relating to marriage, is a major component of our work.
Your Marriage Matters was started out of a deep concern shared for the experience and understanding of marriage in our world today. We deeply believe in the importance of marriage and in its ability to unite and strengthen individuals into a sum that is greater than its parts.
76% of Americans have health coverage for mental illness, leaving 24% without it. When financial strain is evident in a marriage, spousal hostility increases and marital self-image deeply suffers. From clinical experience, we have found there is significant financial burden.
Even for those with mental health coverage, many policies are not covering the majority of the expenses. In fact, insurance companies do not accept coverage for marriage counseling.
With your help, we can spread awareness of this new service and assist in creating healthy marriages and healthy relationships in Centre County. Thank you for your support during this time.
