Dear Community,
YGB Needs Your Help.
You've seen us at our best and our worst. You've seen us change the discussion of social justice and racial disparity.
Since our debut in 2014, we have organized over 100 direct actions, hosted education and building sessions, engaged Community, elevated community and helped with many special cases both in the news and behind the scenes.
As a completely volunteer grassroots organization, our journey has not been without trial, trauma and many growing pains. Still the work continues.
Today, the Young, Gifted and Black Coalition is refocusing efforts to hone in on 1) Documenting and understanding the litany of Black needs, 2) Building a collective analysis around the critical issues we face, and 3) using that understanding and human resource to Advocate for and implement the changes our community needs.
If we're going to be successful, we need to invest considerable time and energy into building our strategies and processes to ensure that YGB will be here for the long run.
That's why we're planing to attend the WiLD Organizing and Leadership Development Training this July 27th - 29th with up to 10 Core YGB members ready to go to WORK!
Training costs $210 per person, and with 10 Core YGB, that translates to a $2,100 cost. Considering travel and other expenses, we're looking at a potential bill of $3,100. It's expensive, but the training is more than worth it.
In the Training, we'll re-build our strategy, coaching and resource development skills. We'll also lock down our plan for building a true coalition model that utilizes a wide base of community support to make strides in our three key focus areas.
Our Registration is due July 5th. We hope that you can help us with a donation; and if not, we hope that you can help us connect to someone who can.
