Illegal Eviction

Hello friends and family,

As many of you are unaware, this summer has turned out to be a horror story for me. Arriving home from my job in early summer, I unfortunately was "welcomed" with a lockout from the Co-op board of an apartment that I had recently taken over from the owner. Unknown to me and behind my back, he had worked out a deal to actually turn over ownership of the apartment back to the Co-Op board while still accepting rental payments from me. He did not notify me of this in any way (phone, email , text, homing pigeon (LOL). Sorry have to inject a little humor or I'll drive myself mad just typing this. Based on this, the Co-Op issued orders to resume ownership of the apartment and because he had not informed them that I was still residing there, he signed papers instructing them to discard all contents of the apartment which were all MY belongings. My apartment was ransacked and all valuables including money, computer, valuable comic books, clothing, a variety of electronics and other personal items were taken, not to mention removing the stove from the apartment. Please see pictures below of some of the damage done. I did not discover this until about 2 weeks after I was locked out from the apartment and had thankfully found temporary residence at a friend's apartment who was away for a few weeks.

I went to Housing Court during this time issued a temporary order to resume residency in the apartment while the Co-Op board starts legal eviction proceedings. In order to get an restitution or monetary relief, I must sue the owner of the apartment and not the Co-op board. Until this is all settled with the Housing Court, I am at a stand still to proceed with any type of lawsuit. This has almost cost me my new job and completely left me financially ruined right now. I now have to find a new apartment as well as catching upon rising costs of trying to bounce back from this devastating situation.

I would like to ask any of you if you could assist me with getting back on my feet. Any amount would be helpful and I would be eternally grateful. To those of you unable to help, you well wishes and prayers will be appreciated as well.

Thank you
Rob
