Cerys Paterson's Headstone Fund
The Wings of a Butterfly is a project that was born out of a desire to provide friendship, love, understanding, support and remembrance to anyone who is affected by the death of a child. It has grown to now become a non-profit organisation where our financial aim is help families of children who have died from a congenital heart defect (CHD).
CHD's affect 1 in 100 children and are the number 1 cause of death in children. Having a child with a CHD puts emotional, physical and financial strain on the family. When a child dies from a CHD, usually it follows a period of hospitalisation. Things have already been pulled to stretching point and now they have to grieve for their beloved child; as well as plan their funeral.
The first thing a parent wants to do following the funeral is to erect a headstone. It is the single, most final thing they can do for their child. To have something permanent to mark that their child was here. An everlasting tribute.
Headstones can vary in cost, but most are in excess of £1,000. Coupled with financial strain from medical needs, bereavement, funeral costs "“ finding the spare money to put aside can be overwhelming.
Our aim is to provide financial assistance towards a headstone, for families who have lost a child to a congenital heart defect.
Our first family is the Paterson Family.

Cerys gained her wings on her second birthday, a week after her mummy and daddy got married. Cerys was born with Atrioventricular Septal Defect (ASD), Coarctation of the Aorta and had a rotated heart.
Cerys touched so many people's lives and has left a huge hole in her family's lives. Although, she gained her wings on her 2nd Birthday, she also gave 2 people the gift of life too as her family were able to donate some of her organs.
Please help us financially assist this family to provide an everlasting tribute for a very special princess.
