Wisconsin Bear Education Sanctuary

Please help me educate the public about who their peaceful funny black bears are.  We can stop the annual killing of more bears in Wisconsin than anywhere on earth.  Right now Sept. 6 - Oct.11, the annual bear slaughter over packs of dogs and bait is going on just when bears need to be putting on weight for hibernation.  5,000 bears will be killed again this year as they are every year.  Most of those killed are less than a year and a half old.    20 years of speaking out and writing columns has not stopped this kill.

Please help me build an open air bear education center 35 miles north of Madison, the capital.  I have the land.  The  8 foot triple fencing ( required by the DNR and Dept. of Agriculture) for one acre costs $30,000 and the bear house/den and cameras and an additional privacy fence ( so the bears are not shot from the road) is another $10,000.  If I can get the fencing in this fall, I can take in two bear cubs ( born in January ) in the spring.

I have a track record of standing up for wildlife.  I have written the Madravenspeak living wildlife column for the Capital Times newspaper the past 7 years as a pro bono project to help wildlife.  (Put Madravenspeak into the search box of madison.com and 183 columns are in the archive.) The column I write can help me attract people to visit ( especially school children ) to learn how peaceful, intelligent and friendly bears are.  I could write a thousand columns and not have the effect of what the bears themselves can teach.  To know them is to love them.

Six of the eight bear species are on the endangered list.  Two-thirds of wildlife on planet earth has been destroyed in just the past 50 years.  We can change this paradigm to valuing the life of our wildlife.
This is a video put together by a supporter of the Minnesota Bear Education center.  We need a center in Wisconsin to help our bears and other wildlife:
Bears are sacred and do not deserve to be killed for taxidermy and heads on walls. For our bears! Thank you!

If you cannot stand to watch the second video, men rewarding a 10-year old child for killing a bear ( sponsored by Safari Club International head hunters club ):

- then help me end this.

The bears cannot speak for themselves. People will not protect who they do not know.  This effort needs community support.  We can do this together to open hearts and minds to the beauty and magic of our fellow beings.

Thank you so much!
