Will Rast GoFundMe

On Christmas night, someone broke into our house and stole all of my music equipment; keyboards, studio monitors, a large screen monitor, recording interface, pedals, and a bag full of cables. It doesn't seem like much, but it was practically everything I own. A friend left his bass here and it was also stolen. Like so many of my fellow musicians, I have lost almost all my income due to the pandemic. Losing the opportunity to work and the ability to pay for housing in New Orleans, I moved with my girlfriend to her home state of Puebla, Mexico, where the small savings I had would last a little longer. Nothing was insured, as I was in transition and had had almost no income since March. This theft is a blow that, financially, I am afraid I won't be able to recover from for quite some time. A lot of this gear was given to me and was acquired over time with the help of family and friends, because although I've managed to make a modest living in the music industry, I have never made the kind of money to pay for top-of-the-line instruments and recording gear. I am asking for help in hopes of continuing my work, basically my livelihood, composing and recording original music here in Mexico. I would like to thank my mother, Catherine Renner, for helping me to arrange this fundraiser, as the GoFundMe platform is not yet supported in Mexico, so I was not able to set it up from here. Will's Bio. Born in Fairfax County, VA, Will Rast is a keyboardist who enjoys playing many styles. He has toured the world with a wide range of artists from Pop R&B singer Mya, to second wave Afrobeat pioneers, Antibalas and Argentine singer songwriters Federico Aubele and Natalia Clavier. He appears on recordings with Ocote Soul Sounds, Antibalas, international Electronica superstars, Thievery Corporation and GRiZ, as well as recordings with Italian rap sensation, Jovanotti, Mexican hip hop group, Banda Bastone, as well as many others and has released 4 records of his own original material with his group, The Funk Ark. He has shared the stage as an accompanist with the likes of Sharon Jones, Charles Bradley, Judy Collins, Josh Ritter, Allen Toussaint, Sam Moore, Bettye LaVette, Richard Marx, Mike Gordon, Angelique Kidjo, Ledisi, Taj Mahal, Ruthie Foster, Todd Rundgren, Don Bryant, Kenny Loggins, Steve Earle, Billy Gibbons, Ceelo Green, Melissa Etheridge and as a result, has played in some of the most prestigious venues in the world, such as Carnegie Hall, the Apollo Theater, The Fillmore in San Francisco, The Vienna Opera House, The Blue Note, Tokyo, The Hippodrome in Rome, O2 Arena in London and Le Zenith in Paris and England's Glastonbury Festival. Will now resides in Puebla, Mexico.
