Help Wendy Thompson fight cancer

For those of you that may know or for those who have yet to find out, one of the greatest people in our family, Wendy Thompson, has begun her battle with cancer. Here is her story:
Wendy being a healthy woman her whole life has finally hit 51 years of age. She started the year great, feeling good, healthy and strong. Then tables turned, she started having really bad stomach pains and was very bloated. She would be in so much agony she would not be able to eat, was losing weight and was very tired and weary all the time.
She decided to go and see her gynecologist to see what may be causing her so much pain. The pain was only getting worse and she just couldn't take it anymore. The gynecologist said there was nothing wrong. After another week of intense pain, she went to her family doctor. The doctor advised Wendy that she would need to have an ultrasound to have a better look at what was happening. After the ultrasound was completed the doctor explained that she had a mass that was surrounded by fluid in her pelvic area. She was told that this was probably cancerous but she would need further testing to confirm the diagnosis. Wendy was sent to a specialist in Kingston for a biopsy to remove some fluids.
May 16, 2017 - Result day had come. It was confirmed that she has ovarian cancer. Stage 3 cancer - high grade. It went out of the pelvis and into the abdomen. The doctor said that there's 60-80% chance the chemo will work. Ovarian cancer is very susceptible to chemo.
Wendy went in the next day to drain some fluids. She was bloated and not able to eat – a quarter of a piece of bread was all she could manage to get down some days. They removed 2 liters (wow) of fluid! This helped with her discomfort and was able to eat again!
May 19, 2017 -The first chemo day had arrived. It was a long, long day for Wendy. She went in the morning for her chemo treatment. They hooked her up to the IV and gave her a dose of saline, then Benadryl, then started the chemo. Suddenly all the alarms were sounding – Wendy was having a bad reaction to the chemo! Scary! She couldn't breathe and felt dizzy and was seeing stars. The nurses were wonderful and knew exactly how to react. They stopped the chemo immediately and switched her back to saline for a while. Then they started chemo again but at a slower rate and in separate IV lines so they could watch her closely for reactions. It was a very long day. Since that slowed down the flow, she was there over 8 hours (instead of the estimated 5.5 hours).
A week went by and Wendy started having bad pain again in her back and abdomen. The bloating had returned. She needed to have more fluids drained.
Wendy is a very positive and spiritual person. Through all of this she has kept a positive attitude and has kept her faith. She is a true inspiration to all who know her. She is losing her hair in chunks now so she decided to cut it all off last week but not shave it completely just yet. She has purchased a wig.
June 14th After battling a ‘common cold’, Wendy was cleared to have her next round of chemo today. Treatment went as smooth as chemo treatments can go. This second round of chemo has been harder on her. Her energy is very low and still has back, leg and general aches and pains but her spirit is still strong and vibrant.
The pain in her back and abdomen – not to mention her fatigue – has made it impossible to work at all. With the cost of medication, travel, wigs and life expenses in general, this is getting pretty expensive for her. We are reaching out to all of our wonderful friends and family to try and help us raise funds for Wendy so together we can alleviate some of her concern. Please reach into your hearts and help if you are able to help give her some peace of mind while going through this scary and troubling experience. Please also share our story in the hopes that others might be able to help.
