Oceti Sakowin Community Bike Shop

Donation protected
I am a portrait photojournalist, cyclist, veteran, & activist, and I am on a mission to create the Oceti Sakowin Community Bicycle Cooperative
(Formally known as: Standing Rock Bike Shop)  at the Water Protection Site in Cannonball, N.D. on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation. This movement is not only about the water, sacred Native American lands, or the pipeline, this movement is about human life and the communities gathering together in solidarity.

My name is Drew Bly and my plan for contributing to the Standing Rock Sioux families and activists involved in this movement is to provide reliable transportation using bicycles between camp areas, raise camp moral, cater to physical training, create a relaxed common bond, and will be a direct asset used throughout the community for the adults and kids alike.

The space in which this shop is located will be a great place to have open discussions, teach sustainable energy classes, share ideas, and will become an outstanding environment for growth as a community.

Funding for this project is needed as soon as possible. This project is supporting the Native American's RIGHT TO LIVE. This Standing Rock movement can be that to save the world from depending off crude oil, will be the flagship movement to show the world, the strength of a unified community.

As a photographer and organizer:
I will have an active and report to include photos, facebook post and weekly reports to the general public on the progress with the bike shop and at the Water

Money used:
-Delivery of bikes from LA to Standing Rock
-Adult size bikes,
-Children size snow bikes
-Organizational supplies
-Snow bike tires
-Yoga mats
-Building supplies
-GPS for bikes (Tile Stealth Bike Tracker)
-Bike-pump

In the week I spent at Standing Rock:
I connected with and share this idea with, Native families, the youth council, activist, Native Us Veterans, & tribal leaders. All of these groups of people agreed this project is a very good idea for the kids, community development and will benefit the camp as a whole.

This week I will complete transforming my bicycle into a mobile living structure to start  this community bike shop from.

6 months to a year:
(Depending on funding & public interest)
I would like to take this concept to other Native American Reservations, poverty neighborhoods, as well as other Water Protector/ Pipeline sites across the United States!

People will always need to get around and having someone share motivation, inspiration, and bicycle education with them will continue to develop communities . Once bicycles are given and effectively introduced the bikes will be used. My plan to commit my heart, mind, and efforts to Mentoring, Motivating, to improving neighborhoods and community development.

Any love, support, and donations will be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!
