My name is Joey Giaquinto and I am trying to raise money for the Wakim Family.
Kim(57) is from Philippi, West Virginia and went to WVU for undergrad and law school. Tom(57) is from Wheeling, West Virginia and went to West Liberty University. Kim and Tom met in Wheeling in September of 1989, and married shortly thereafter in May of 1990. They have been married for 26 years and currently reside in Bridgeville, PA.
Kim Wakim was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in September of 2010. Since then, Kim has gone through over 60 rounds of chemotherapy and 3 surgeries, but unfortunately has spread throughout her body. Kim travels to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas almost every other week for treatment. She has attempted to get into 3 clinical trials, but was not accepted into any of them. Kim continues to work for Clark Hill PLC Law Firm from home.
In October of 2015, Tom was diagnosed with Stage 4 Terminal Glioblastoma, the most aggressive and fast growing brain cancer. Tom went to chemotherapy and radiation for 6 weeks, however, has had to stop. He has extreme short term memory loss. Tom is currently staying at Country Meadows , a private pay nursing home.
Kim and Toms' 13 year old son, Ben, is currently in 7th grade South Fayette Middle School . Ben stays with Tom's brother and sister-in-law who live nearby. Kim tries to stay positive and continues to fight through her faith and says that her "connection with God has strengthened," with all they have endured. I would really appreciate donations and I know that it would mean the world to the Wakims. Anything raised will go towards Tom's care at the nursing home and Kim's medical expenses.
