WT15-01 WLB Fighting Fund

Donation protected
This fund has been created to help the owners of the WT15-01 commence legal action against Queensland Weapons Licensing Branch. The effort is being organised by Firearm Owners United LTD, we expect to engage legal counsel at fairly significant expense and every cent will help in this fight for all firearm owners.

Background:

In 2016 Wedgetail Industries (WI), a new Victorian manufacturer, began producing and selling a handgun they named WT15-01, typically chambered in .300 Blackout.  WI spoke with Queensland Weapons Licensing prior to the new design being advertised to the public and achieved an agreement of Category H compliance for the new handgun.

Many firearm owners in Queensland saw the utility for these firearms in competitions, typically for metallic silhouette and purchased them - at $5,850 each.  All of the normal legal processes were followed, club supporting letters were obtained and PTA’s were issued by Queensland Weapons Licensing Branch.

Now on the 28th of June 2018, only 2 years after the first production of the WT15-01, Queensland Weapons Licensing branch have suddenly decided they are going to seize these firearms WITHOUT compensation, on the grounds of it being deemed “too scary” for public use.

The Fight:

As stated above, at this point the WT15-01 owners are being offered no compensation of this almost $6,000 firearm, nor any sound LEGAL reason why they must surrender it to the police.

We are fighting to have the notice retracted by QLD Weapons Licensing branch, allowing for WT15-01 owners to keep their competition firearms.  We are also fighting for the winning precedence of future cases like this when Weapons Licensing branch no doubt cross the line from LEGAL to politically driven decisions again.

This case will be extremely important for all licensed shooters in QLD, and possibly the rest of Australia.  If we are unable to stop QLD Weapons Licensing branch from twisting the laws to suit their own political agendas now, then what is going to stop them from repeating this action in the future?  What will happen when other States and Territories licensing branches start doing the same? This represents a clear danger to all firearm owners in the future.

Please support our cause for all sporting shooters!  Spread the word at your clubs, share this fund on your social media. We will all be impacted by the outcome of this case.
