WIN FOR JIM

Hey everyone, my name is James Marlowe and I am the founder of the #WINFORJIM campaign. To commemorate the 25th F45 fitness challenge, I am seeking your support with my WIN FOR JIM campaign. The goal of this campaign is to raise $2,500 to support the Cholangiocarcinoma foundation. Cholangiocarcinoma is a rare form of bile duct cancer. This aggressive form of cancer affects 8,000 people in the United States each year. Diagnosis takes some time given the symptoms due to its rarity. Treatment and advancements in clinical trials are currently limited. The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation is a charity that I hold close to my heart. A few years back, I lost my father, Jim Marlowe to this aggressive form of cancer. I recall the discomfort, suffering, and unknown his diagnosis brought my dad and our family. Doctors and medical professionals could not grasp what my father had. By the time he was properly diagnosed, the cancer had already metastasized and within months of his diagnosis, he was gone. On May 28, 2014, I lost my best friend, my role model, and father to a rare disease that no individual or loved one should ever have to endure. Cholangiocarcinoma research is currently limited because of its rarity and not often in the spotlight for spreading awareness. But with your support, we can raise $2,500 for the Cholangiocarcinoma foundation. This foundation was founded back in 2005 by Stacie Lindsey after her brother, Mark Clements, was diagnosed with this horrific disease. This foundation has built a network consisting of survivors and their families, volunteers, and giving individuals like yourselves who aim to spread awareness of this rare cancer. All the proceeds raised during this Go Fund Me campaign will directly help cancer research and families affected by this disease so that medical professionals can one day find a cure answer to this rare disease. In conjunction with the F45 fitness challenge and to promote accountability, I am pushing myself to lose 25lbs. In order for all of the proceeds to benefit the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation, I must successfully end my journey with a 25lb weight loss. If I do not meet my goal, all proceeds raised will be returned to all donors. The cancer typically affects individuals over 50 years old . Individuals typically have a 5-year survival rate of 30%. 

More information about Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation: Founded in 2006, the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation (CCF) is the only non-profit in North America dedicated to finding a cure and improving the quality of life for those affected by bile duct cancer. More than 5,000 people are diagnosed with this hard-to-detect, difficult-to-treat, fatal type of cancer in the United States each year, and incidence is sharply increasing. Despite treatment, most people diagnosed with advanced bile duct cancer have less than a 10 percent chance of surviving five years.
